Run-Biz, this is Jared

I’ve almost finished three weeks at my new job and it’s been incredible.  It’s amazing how much easier it is to get up in the morning when you are excited to go to work.  I’ve also noticed that I don’t sit and watch the clock, calculating how much longer I have until I get to go home.  It’s a wonderful feeling really.  Now I know how all of my other friends who love their jobs feel.  It’s also great to work with your friends and get to act stupid and goofy and actually be relaxed, not worrying if your boss is going to come in and think you aren’t doing your job.  So, to sum it up:  New job=bad ass.

Since this is a blog of high nerdery I feel I should mention some of my nerdiness.  I’m currently addicted to Forza Motorsport 2, a realistic racing game for the Xbox360.  So much so, that I’m joining an online racing league and spent 45 minutes last night creating the Run-Business solutions logo on a couple of cars in the games, completely from primitive shapes.  Here are some shots:

I love being a dork.

Ends and Beginnings

I am no longer a teacher or a coach.  Last Friday was my last day and it ended up being much more emotional than I thought it would be.  My 7th grade athletics boys this year were probably my favorite class to ever have coached, which made telling them goodbye extremely difficult.  They gave me a football that all 100 of them had signed (it’s now sitting on a tee in a prominent spot in my house).  At the end of the day when I was telling them goodbye I got pretty choked up and had to pause at which point one of them yelled:  “It’s okay Coach Lee, you can cry, it’s manly!”  After my little speech I got a group hug.  I felt so loved and actually questioned whether or not I was doing the right thing, which after some thought, I still believe I am.

Monday will be my first day at Run Business Solutions.  I’m excited/nervous/terrified.  This is going to be such a huge change in my life.  No more summer break or two weeks off for Christmas, but that’s a sacrifice I’m willing to make to be happy and satisfied with my career.  Plus, I get a laptop and a cell phone and they pay my cell phone bill which for a tech junkie like me is like a perfect Christmas.

I have been taking advantage of my one week off to do absolutely nothing except spend my Bush Bucks on a new set of tires and sleep.  I do plan on finding some time this summer to head to the mountains and do a bit of fly fishing and camping.  Even if it’s for just a couple of days.
