A Month-Long Backlog

I haven’t posted in over a month so I’ve got a few random things to talk about.

First of all, if you haven’t purchased the new Kings of Leon album, do so immediately.  It’s becoming more and more rare that an album grabs me and forces me to listen to it over and over (the last one that did so was Sufjan Stevens’ “Illinoise”).  Every song on the album is incredible.  That should be all the review you need.

Only two more weeks until the election.  Thank God.  I’m so sick of everything and everybody, including Joe the Plumber (but thanks for exposing Barack’s socialism).

My love of photography is growing more every day.  I’ve taken an interest in abandoned buildings and grain elevators.  One of these weekends (after I’ve purchased a new Nikon D80 and don’t have to borrow the company camera) I’m going to drive to every small town in the panhandle just take pictures.

Tonight, Toby, Ariel, and I did a little urban exploration.  We went to the train tracks and walked around while I snapped pictures of the grain elevators.  We made our way down to the old Santa Fe depot.  We peeked in the windows and made our way around back, me clicking away the whole time.  We were about 15 to 20 feet away from the train tracks and I snapped a picture of a train as it went by (see below).  Apparently, the train company doesn’t like people getting too close and as we made our way back to the truck, a police officer pulled up.  He was very nice and told us why he stopped.  The train company had called and said people were taking pictures and they were worried we were trespassing.  I just explained what I was doing and just told us to be careful and went on his way.

Anyway, I snapped some pretty good pictures.  A few are below, check out my Flickr account (the box down on the right) to see more of them.
